Our Values

Here are the values and pillars that help drive vision and life at The Brook.
THE GOSPEL CHANGES PEOPLE

AND PEOPLE CHANGE THE WORLD

As a church, God has made us stewards of two very important resources….the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16-17) and His people. Keeping that in mind, we want to focus our resources toward making sure that we faithfully and consistently instill the gospel in everyone that is a part of The Brook Church. Everything we do as a church we do under the premise that it is the gospel that truly changes people at their core. Only then are these changed people God’s agents to change a dying world. We believe that as the gospel transforms people, God places these transformed people into broken and dark situations where they become His hands and feet to repair what has been fractured.

DRINK DEEPLY

The Bible is a window we look through to show us Jesus. In John 5:39 Jesus says, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me” In John 17:3 he also says, “And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” Jesus is the only hero & the main character throughout the bible. His offer to drink and have life is a call to relationship with Him whereby we are growing in intimacy knowing Him more, understanding His heart & will. We look at Jesus through looking at His word.

In addition, God has spoken to us through the Bible and we recognize it as the final authority for our lives. So we delight in seeking God through the fountain of His word. (Psalm 119). We unashamedly elevate God’s word and see it as central to the life of our church.

Live Passionately for us is all about authentic and purposeful community. 1 Thessalonians 2:8 captures this for us when it says, “So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.” Within community we seek to fulfill all the “one another” commands and encourage each other to make much of Jesus in our everyday lives.

“A Career is how you make a living…Calling is what you were made to do with your life.” – James Allman

Our individual lives are platforms for mission. No matter what career we have we have a greater calling to leverage our lives for the advancement of God’s kingdom and the joy that follows.

LIVE PASSIONATELY

THIRST FOR MORE

We aren’t ignorant that the heart is an idol factory where good and bad things become ultimate things. They become gods. Idolatry is the root of every expression of brokenness that is in our world and our lives. When we sit on the throne of our hearts and play God it always goes bad…always. God says in Jeremiah 2:13, “for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
Thirst for more is a rally cry to return to the fountain of living water, Jesus. We ambitiously challenge the status quo and idols of our lives and city showing how Jesus is far superior and satisfying. We also recognize that faith is a journey you walk and not just a conclusion you come to.  So we are called to constantly pursue Christ carrying our cross chasing after Him with joy that springs from the heart, unearthing broken wells we drink from, repenting from the false gods we turn to, trusting and treasuring Jesus daily
